What is MoanPhone?

MoanPhone is a free web app that makes your phone talk back when you interact with it. Plug in your charger and your phone moans with pleasure. Smack or shake your phone and it yelps, complains, and roasts you with over 300 hilarious text-to-speech phrases. No app download required — it runs entirely in your browser.

How Does It Work?

MoanPhone uses your phone's built-in browser APIs to detect interactions. The Battery Status API detects when you plug in a charger. The DeviceMotion API detects when your phone gets smacked or shaken. When triggered, the Web Speech API reads out a random funny phrase through your phone's speaker. Every phrase is different — from dramatic moaning sounds to sassy comebacks to completely unhinged threats.
